Specialty Dives
Specialty courses allow you to focus on a particular diving interest. During your Open Water course you may have become aware of a specific aspect of diving that you want to explore further. Or perhaps you got a taste of a specialty while completing your Advanced Open Water Diver course or saw someone else using a specific skill (like using a Nitrox tank) and now you want to learn how to do it too.
Taking a Specialty Course will challenge you and result in you becoming a certified specialist in that specific aspect of diving. Our Specialty courses are set out below.
Please note, that depending on the nature and requirements of each Specialty that we offer, certain courses are only available at certain dive locations. For example, the Drift Diver specialty needs a ‘moving current’, which is only available on our Brockville weekends (which take place in the summer) or on certain international dive trips. For each specialty, you will have to choose from the available locations (please be aware, therefore, that travel may be required for your Specialty course). The locations we use for training are as follows:
Gulliver’s Lake
Brockville
International Dive Trips (various locations)
Classroom/Pool Only
Certain Specialties also require materials or equipment that are in addition to the materials provided for your course. In some Specialties, we are able to rent the additional material/equipment to you, but in some instances you will need to personally own the required equipment yourself. Each Specialty page will clearly identify what additional materials you will need to complete the course and whether or not it is available for rent from us (please note: BCD’s, regulators, masks, fins, snorkels, wetsuits, etc. are not included in course prices and will need to rented if required. These can be selected from the drop-down menu when booking).
Accordingly, each specialty course fee only includes the materials, the tanks and the weights required for that course alone.
Does ‘Master Scuba Diver’ sound like a great achievement? It is. If you have been trained in 5 specialty courses, completed your Rescue Diver Course and can show 50 logged dives in your PADI log book, then you have earned the distinction of Master Scuba Diver.
